About Us

The Paul Cavanagh Memorial Fund was set up in February 2007 by a handful of city centre security officers working in retail security and linked by the SIREN radio scheme.
The fund was set up after a routine stop on a shoplifter resulted in fatal consquences, and Paul Cavanagh's life was tragically taken whilst doing the job he loved.
The main organisers of the fund are security officer's Daniel Sexton and Nathan Colk but they have received great support from sales assistant Holly Chapman, SIREN Business Against Crime Manager Kimberly Doherty, and loss prevention officer Gary Locke.
Our aim for The Paul Cavanagh Memorial Fund is to "organise family events to raise money for local charities based in Norwich and the surrounding areas."
Over the past two years the fund has raised approximately £7000 with Paul's family and the East Anglian Air Ambulance benefitting from two very successful events.

History of project

As I've stated above we've organised two events to date.
The first was a massive success for everyone involved in organising this event. It took place @ Lava/Ignite on the Riverside complex in Norwich on 6th June 2007. We gained support from Radio Broadland, which we're truely thankful for, and radio DJ Chris Marston hosted the evening. The night involved a raffle of approximately 200 prizes donated from local stores in and around Norwich, and a auction of memoribilia of famous actors/actresses and sporting legends. All proceeds were donated to Paul's fiancee given a little support in this tough time. "Thank you to all the local businesses who kindly donated items for the raffle and well done if you won - even though I was out bid on the David Hasslehoff signed Knight Rider DVD's! said Marston.
The second event took place @ Powerleague, Bowthorpe on Sunday 7th September 2008. This was the first "football 5's family fun day" organised by the fund and all proceeds were donated to the East Anglian Air Ambulance. We we're happy to donate £710 to this worth while cause.
